Create An Effective Art Display
I’m going to give you some guidelines from interior designers for displaying art, but remember that rules are made to be broken – adapt them or make up your own rules if these don’t work for you. You will want your masterpiece to be the focal point and to let the viewer fully appreciate the piece of work. Do not buy art just because it coordinates with your furnishings. Adding pillows to your sofa in a similar color as in your artwork or using a fruit bowl with like shades can be a nice touch. Usually, professionals advise hanging art at eye level. When you visit a gallery, you will see that the middle of the piece of art is usually about five feet from the bottom of the wall. The best lighting to use to show off your artwork is from halogen bulbs since this does not detract from the artworks beauty thanks to it’s white light properties. Always be sure to use the correct hardware for hanging pictures: two picture hooks and wire for each piece. To get a closer look on picture to painting visit this site.
You can also display your art by setting it on a wall shelf or bookcase shelf, or simply lean it up against the wall, leaving it sitting on the floor. This method does well with the larger, framed art pieces. In any case, white is the best choice for matting your art work. For a touch of color you can double mat the artwork. Place a colored mat behind the white one with just a sliver of color showing at the edge.
Creating a sense of balance is the goal of making an artwork grouping. When grouping together different sized pieces, you must line up the center of each piece, not any of the outside edges. The best way to accomplish this without having to put unnecessary holes in your wall is by mapping it out on a piece of paper first. All those spaces between the frames will turn into their own details. After you have your artwork pieced together, then you should think about how far apart you are going to place each piece from one another. In order to avoid crowding, leave a minimum of 1.5″ between each piece when the art is of the same dimension. Even if all the art work or photos you are arranging are the exact same size, you should still sketch out their hanging order or put them out on the floor before you start hammering nails into your wall. To make your grouping more appealing use frames of different sizes and shapes. Contemporary art looks best in simple frames. Impressionistic or traditional paintings, however, are usually shown off to better advantage in more elaborate frames.
Mats can be used to make any piece of art seem larger and more impressive. An eggshell or white paint can really compliment your art to its best advantage. Designing your ideal space should include artwork from the get-go and it should not be an afterthought. However, you will be more pleased with the results if you choose your artwork ahead of time and draw inspiration from the colors and textures that are in it. As a person looking for photo to paintings you should visit that site.
Finding suitable art for your home can be a difficult and costly process. Most designers recommend selecting a piece for the intrinsic qualities that appeal to your taste. Everybody can find an art piece they like from traveling, family and regional artists. It doesn’t matter where the art comes from; whether it’s a French print put with a set of hand-made glass balls to a collection of rocks with painted phrases on them with a set of marble elephant bookends, as long as they have a story, then they work together. Most artists look for intriguing pieces while they are traveling.
Using the same type of frame over and over can get boring; mix things up for a great look. Keep in mind that your artwork is what you want people to look at, not the framework. When you are not sure if a piece is quite right for a certain space, talk to the art gallery about leaving a deposit and displaying the piece in your home for a few days. This can help you decide if it is truly the perfect piece for you. To help you find the right art for your home, some galleries will even let you take up to twenty works of art at a time.

Each African mask has been made for a particular purpose. It is important to remember that every figure and ritual object is a living being, the temporary abode of spirits, and also represents the vital links between man and the world of the supernatural, possessing awesome powers of its own. However, music, chanting, dancing, sacrifices and the full array of rituals that accompanies any mask bring it fully to life, and are the essential elements that provide its deep-rooted meaning and power to the community. These complex ceremonial events express vital social, religious, and moral values for the whole community, while the uniqueness of each mask is a testament to the artistry of its community and the individual artist’s originality. With careful attention to the masks’ artistic and symbolic detail, it is possible to perceive these same values within the masks themselves. |
